Identify your problems

1.      Topics changes frequently:
As it is a long narrative story, inexperienced writers are easy to jump from one topic to the other topics, which is the traveling without a plan. You may want to go to Japan this moment and next moment you may desire to see New York. In that sense, the plots transition become pretty awkward as it changes too many that readers cannot follow and the descriptions of your novel involves in something that you are not familiar with that may make readers feel lost when they read.

2.      Voices changes
The first problem leads the second problem—characters’ voices change that makes the personalities are not stable and immature.  When I wrote my novel and my friends read that, they found that the main character’s personality is covered by a small character, which is impressive to them while the main character seems not popular and cannot be remembered by readers. It is also because my novel lacks of a design for each character.

3.      Time and spaces environment
The setting of the time and spaces should be familiar and not changes too much. When I wrote my novel, I did not think carefully but wrote it with my imagination and described the places based on what I knew. However, it failed because it makes the novel seems unreal that makes the facts novel failed. One of the Chinese famous young writer, Jingming Guo, he wrote a novel which had a really big flaw. He is a Shanghai citizen and he never lives in Beijing but his novel sets in Beijing and the dictions he applies are not native Beijing tone. In that sense, the time and spaces environment should be familiar to you.
